Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons

This song is excellent. A lot different from what you here on the radio. His voice is great and his accent makes it perfect. The lyrics are witty and intelligent. They do use a cuss word in the chorus. (the f word). But, it is excellent and definitely good if your looking for something different. I really enjoy the instruments in this song.
The music video isn't very good. They are all just standing around singing and playing their instruments, not very exciting.
Song gets 5 stars. One of my new favorites.

Stays Four The Same by The Ready Set

This is a really good song and is less repetitive than Love Like Woe. Both songs are good but this one is lyrically better. I really enjoy The Ready Sets music. It has a great beat and is electro but not too much.
I really like when he says, "The price to pay is so, so high./And the irony could be cut with a knife." I think this is a really cool lyric and matches well with the mood of the song.
3.5 stars. Good, but I don't love it...... yet.

Outside My Window by Sarah Buxton

This song is very good especially when your feeling down or just want something fresh and fun to listen to. This song sounds like Summer and will bring a smile to country lovers faces.
Sarah says"(You) still need stars when you're wishin' at night/A best friend to set you right, a good laugh, a warm bath/And a beautiful song you can sing along to/Good news that'll make you cry/All the little things that money cant buy/No wars, no more, just a big rainbow outside my window." I really like this verse which is the chorus. I think people forget the great things in the world sometimes.
I will definitely be checking out more music by Sarah Buxton and will be adding this to my YouTube favorites. 4 stars for Outside My Window.

The One That Got Away by Katy Perry from the Teenage Dream album

The One That Got Away is a very relatable song because almost everyone has fallen in love with someone who leaves. But, she also talks about how it would be if they were together. She also sings about how he was the one she was wanting to be with forever but has moved on.
Katy says, "can't replace you with a million rings." I really like this lyric because it shows that she wanted to marry this man. But, he got away..... (name title!)
I really love this song so, 5 stars. It has a pop beat with more of a story behind it. Katy Perry once again impresses me.

Not That Far Away by Jennette McCurdy

Jennette McCurdy is a talented actress and singer! She keeps her two lives separate though. Her music career doesn't collide with her acting career. This is different from most teen stars who are on channels like Nickelodeon and Disney. Those people have talent but Jennette was willing to take a leap and not get famous for her music from her TV show, iCarly.
The song Not That Far Away is about leaving home to start off your future. She talks about her mother and how she will be okay on her own.
This song is really inspiring. Definitely worth hearing. It's country with a little bit of a pop edge. 4.5 stars for this great song.

The Only Exception by Paramore

The Only Exception is an amazing song. It is a true love song that kind of tells the struggles someones taken on the road to love. The only problem with this song is it is a little repetitive. That doesn't bother me but many people dislike that.
The bridge in this song is my favorite because it has really well written lyrics. I am definitely a Paramore fan after this song. One of my favorite verses is "maybe i know somewhere/ deep in my soul/ that love never lasts/and we've got to find other ways/ to make it alone/keep a straight face/and I've always lived like this, keeping a comfortable distance/and up until now i had sworn to myself that I'm content with loneliness/because none of it was ever worth the risk." I find this really inspiring when you tie it in with the rest of the song.
4.5 stars for The Only Exception. It would be a 5 if people didn't mind the repetitive ending.

We R Who We R by Ke$ha

We R Who We R is different from most of Ke$ha's chart topping hits. It is less about getting drunk or having sex. It's more about knowing who you are. (Hints the name!) In her song she does this thing with some of the words that I don't like. It's kinda like a scratched record. But, the sound kinda grew on me.
The lyrics are a lot more thought through and are very good. Ke$ha definitely gets 4 stars for this great song. Definitely good for partying and to blast in your car. Ke$ha will once again have a nation wide hit if I'm right.

If This Was A Movie by Taylor Swift (available on Speak Now bonus track edition)

If This Was A Movie. Don't we all think about that sometimes. A story book ending. Happily ever after? In this song Taylor sings about forgiveness and desire. Her bridge is perfect and the pace of the song is good because it's not too fast, but it's not too slow. It helps you think about each lyric and hear it.
This isn't your typical Taylor Swift song, but it is 100% her. It has those lyrics fans crave. Her bonus track CD is definitely worth buying. It features If This Was A Movie, Superman, and Ours. It also has bonus video footage.
If This Was A Movie has one verse I just love, " If you're out there, if you somewhere, if you're moving on /I'd be waiting for you ever since you've been gone /I just want it back the way it was before/
And I just wanna see you back at my front door/ And I'd Say. " This is the bridge in the song and then it goes into the chorus.
This song gets 5 stars. Truly beautiful and I can't stop hitting the replay button.

She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5

She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5 is truly beautiful. It practically defines love. But, it also tells the story about how you may love someone but they don't love you back. It's just saying I'll always be here for you. This song is so relatable to everyone at sometime in their lives. It is truly a work of art. His voice is perfect and the lyrics flow.
Every time I hear this song I fall in love with it again. Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time and if you've never heard it, you should look it up because it is amazing.
5 stars for She Will Be Loved.

King of Anything (Sara Bareilles)(Single)

The song King of Anything shows the same emotion as Love Song but it is better stated and her lyrics are amazing. The pace of the song is not too long or too short. It is an anthem of self Independence. Sara Bareilles knows individuality like the back of her hand in this song.
The music video for this song is excellent and isn't your typical one. It isn't like a movie but it's not just a bunch of concert footage. It's a perfect balance of real life meets famous life.
Sara Bareilles says in the song "And who cares if you disagree?/You are not me/Who made you king of anything?/So you dare tell me who to be?/Who died and made you king of anything?" That is the main idea of the song but each lyric reveals a little bit more. She has this power in her voice that tells you exactly how she feels.
This song deserves a 4.5. The perfect balance of life and love with a touch of anger.

The Saltwater Room by Owl City

The Saltwater Room is very unique. I really enjoy the female backup singers voice. The song flows very well. The way it is written is so perfect. It actually has a meaning unlike so many songs written. It's not about bad things in life but it is about the best thing in life, LOVE. And that is exactly how I feel about this song.
4.8 stars. This is one of the best songs I've heard in this genre in a long time! Definitely a lot different from Fireflies. This is the perfect electro/ alternative love song. And to wrap it up I have just one word : Perfect!

If I Die Young (single)

If I Die Young is a song by The Band Perry. It tells the story of the struggles of life and the joys of it. Kimberly Perry's voice is pure. She wrote the song and therefore you can hear the emotion and power in her voice. The group is made up of Reid Perry, Kimberly Perry, and Neil Perry. They are all family members.
In this song Neil and Reid sing backup and play instruments. Kimberly is the lead singer. The lyrics in this song definitely get stuck in your head. One of my favorite verses is "A penny for my thoughts, oh no I’ll sell them for a dollar/They're worth so much more after I’m a gonner/And maybe then you’ll hear the words I been singin’ /Funny when you're dead how people start listenin’." It is so true. This song gives people hope and power to keep going in their lives even when it gets hard.

Please Don't Go (song from album, 31 minutes to Takeoff by Mike Posner)

Mike Posner had a great start with his song Cooler Than Me,  but he did not want to become a one hit wonder. His new song Please Don't Go is number 19 on the billboard charts this week. Fans of Cooler Than Me will enjoy this song. It has more of a romantic angle and discusses how people feel when they never want someone to leave them but think they may.
The music video for Please Don't Go is very good and brings the song to life. I really like the electronic sound to the song. His voice is different from a lot of other performers but reminds me a little bit of Jason Mraz with more of a Pop sound.
Mike Posner has definitely accomplished in making another great song.

Katy Perry's Album Teenage Dream

Katy Perry at the VMA's.
Katy Perry is a name almost everyone in America knows. But, her new album is a very special treat in the 2010 music scene. It shows her sensitive side but still has her rebellious anthems. Her song, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) is very spunky and is a great dance song. Firework is also a great song for those who are going through emotional problems. It's a song of hope. She also has songs like Not Like The Movies and of course, Teenage Dream.
Katy Perry once again impresses me with her music. But, in a new way that I like more. 4.5 stars for the Teenage Dream album.

Taylor Swift's new album Speak Now

The songs on this album are all about experiences in a real persons life, not someone who's coated in plastic and has been molded by Hollywood and fame. Taylor Swift wrote all the songs in this album and that makes it pretty unique. The album features Back to December, Speak Now, Mine, and Mean. Back to December is a song about going back and fixing things, Speak now is about how you only get one chance to say something sometimes before it's too late. Mine is about true love and Mean tells the story of a mean person who is always insulting you.
Some of my favorites on the album are Dear John, The Story Of Us, Long Live, and Never Grow Up. In all this album is truly amazing. There is something for everyone. Old fans will be begging for more and new ones will have found a new obsession.
